Gynecological Access

In the United States

The project is an ongoing, collaborative project, between myself and Juleea Berthelot. The audit study examines wait times for gynecological care across the Unite States for individuals who are privately insured and those who are publicly insured. The data set currently includes just over 1,000 cases.

The project raises three main questions:

1) Are privately insured callers more likely to get gynecological appointments than those insured by Medicaid?

2) For those who do get appointments, do Medicaid and privately insured individuals wait a similar amount of time for their appointments?

2) Do state policies (Medicaid reimbursement rates, abortion access) explain state-level variation in access to care?

Early results show that Medicaid callers are less likely to get appointments than the privately insured. They also wait longer for the appointments they do receive.
